new tag templates by KatNKDA released

new open layer tag templates are available, right now exclusively for all members of NKDA - we plan to make the templates available in the shop soon, we'll keep you posted about that.

What are these templates?

tag templates are open layer files with 20-30 single layers, the download contains 2 different sizes (for tags and for other, bigger layouts) in two formats, pspimage and psd (photoshop format)

They give you many options to arrange your creation by blending out layers, changing position of elements, sometimes even animation layers are already prepared on some of them (the ones with animated preview)

Feel free to change them around to your needs or matching to the tube you are working with, you can change or adjust the colors if necessary, also the darkness of drop shadows, since all shadows are on separate layers as well. add or delete layers as needed.

the number of layers is different from template to template, all depends on the elements used in them.

new tube:::'Nocturne' by KatNKDA

'Nocturne' is the name of my latest tube,

a song inspired me to this work. It is a very touching poem, written by St. John of the Cross in the year 1585 and adapted as song by by Loreena McKennitt. The name of it is 'Dark Night Of The Soul' and here are some of the lines (the whole song is somewhere in my jukebox here on the blog)

Upon a darkened night
the flame of love was burning in my breast
And by a lantern bright
I fled my house while all in quiet rest
Oh night thou was my guide
oh night more loving than the rising sun
Oh night that joined the lover
to the beloved one
transforming each of them into the other


"Dark Night of the Soul," like much of John's poetry, is based on "Song of Songs" from the Biblical Old Testament, and also on much of the romantic poetry and lyrics of Spanish popular balladry of that time, i.e., 16th century. For him it was a metapher of his soul search for god, but it also was understood by many performers as love song back then until to day .

well, lol, i get carried away again - the tube is painted in CS4, the package comes with 3 tubes, one graphic, it also contains the background without tube for more flexibility by creating, all in png format, available at the store and at the member zone of NKDA, hope you like it a bit

new scrap kit 'Oasis' by KatNKDA

Some years ago I had the opportunity to visit and to stay for a longer time in the middle east, in countries with a culture so rich and old, fascinating in the combination of ancient traditions and artwork with the modern life style of nowadays.
Away from the center of turism, by experiencing the 'daily' life, I felt welcomed by strangers with a hospitality beyond what I ever expected, being treated with so much tolerance and respect, it was easy to make friends and keep them. I never forget this time and when I think back now to evenings at the edge of the ever changing desert, the inner peace I found and the time I had for re-routing myself, far away from all western accomplishments and conveniences - I want to share a little bit of it with you, in pictures and in the elements of this unique scrap kit. I called it 'Oasis', because this is what my time there reminds me of - an oasis I visit now in my daydreams and which never lost its magic in my memories.
I dedicate this kit to all my friends in Damascus, Syria, also to the ones from Turkey and Saudi Arabia, who made the time I spend in their countries a beautiful memory to keep and treasure.

new theme kit:::'Shapeshifter' by KatNKDA

All through history the wolf always was present in tales, myths and legends.A leading 'figure' in many cultures and cults,ceremonies and rituals- he is regarded with high respect and much more often with fear. His howling is legendary and can be heard in full moon nights, when the wolf calls the pack or his mate. If you ever have heard a wolf howling - you know how this sound gets under the skin). As many people before - the wolf and especially the legends around this amazing animal inspired me to this new theme kit.

Follow me to the deep woods of the old world, maybe to Romania, where the nights are lonely for the wanderer on treacherous roads, where the mists are thick over old fur trees and the full moon is overshadowed by dark clouds. Here it is, where you can hear the howl of him in such haunted nights, the shape shifter, the wolf-man, the master over many nightmares, you are in his
territory and he can sense you from far distance....be aware of him - he is fascinating and......deadly

enjoy the world of fantasy by creating with this detailed theme kit 'Shapeshifter'. It comes with many extras, like open layer files for assembling your very own backgrounds and layouts, painted overlays and theme backgrounds to emphasize the atmosphere and to tell 'a tale' with your creations, tags and websets. As a special item - my painted wolf tube is included, it is not quite the same as in the tube set, I worked on a separate hair layer for adding some strands in the background colors of the kit - this way the tube 'melts' perfectly into the backgrounds.

new tube released:::::'New Moon' by KatNKDA

this was the first time I tried my digital brush on a wolf, so bare with me lol, that is as good as it will get hehehe,,,I called it - 'New Moon', because it is under the new moon, when a person can turn into a wolf, when all what is human seizes and the dark site takes over.........
this tube is available at the store and with the next tube release day it will be available also for the site members for a limited time. the tube comes in two color varieties, it is painted in Photoshop CS4.

In Plato's account, Atlantis was a naval power lying in front of the Pillars of Hercules that conquered many parts of Western Europe and Africa 9,000 years before the time of Solon, or approximately 9600 BC. After a failed attempt to invade Athens, Atlantis sank into the ocean in a single day and night of misfortune.

Until today the sunken culture of Atlantis inspires many people all over the world, and so it did me........

In Plato's myth, Poseidon fell in love with Cleito, the daughter of Evenor and Leucippe, who bore him five pairs of male twins. The eldest of these, Atlas, was made rightful king of the entire island and the ocean (called the Atlantic Ocean in his honor) After the downfall of Atlantis, Poseidon covered the realm with mud, to hide it and to protect the place from being plundered and disgraced, since it is the land, where his only love is buried under the ruins. He swore never to give Atlantis back to the mortals again.

As Atlantis perished, only one little girl survived the tragedy, the daughter of Atlas, the princess without a name, rescued by the mermaids and raised in their realm she became immortal. Known by the 'Heiress Of Atlantis', she appears to sailors in stormy nights, riding on a dolphin, adorned with the crown of Atlantis. Her beauty is entchanting and who dares to look directly in her deep sea blue eyes, will follow her willingly to the depths of the Atlantic Ocean, to become part of her immortal forces, who one day will help her claiming from Poseidon, what is rightfully hers - the realm of Atlantis.
(note::my story is a made up story, you won't find the whole tale anywhere, lol, maybe I should start writing it......just kidding lol)

new kit released 'Black Swan'

'Black Swan'
Swan Lake is the most technically and emotionally challenging classical ballet. Its music far exceeded its time, noting that many of its early performers claimed it was too difficult and complex to dance to. Much is unknown of its original production, but its revised production by the famous choreographers Petipa and Ivanov is the base of the many versions we see today. Swan Lake will always be held as the standard of classical ballets and will be performed throughout the centuries to come.

It always was believed, that Odette and Odile (the white and the black swan) where one person,they incorporated the duality in a woman, the bright and the dark side of her personality. This might have been the reason why both characters were always represented by only one prima ballerina.

I created this kit in memorial of Anna Pavlova, one of my childhood idols, who 'became' the swan by performing. The tutu in this theme kit is an adaption of Pavlova's Odile costume at her last performance of Tschaikovskys famous ballet.

as promised - here are the previews of the releases at NKDA members area and/or store this weekend.

Starting out with the new tube by KatNKDA - the title is 'Lotus' and she is painted in photoshop CS4 (which is a wonderful program, highly recommended for all who are into digital painting). It was so much fun to work on her and I hope she finds a good home in many of your entchanting tags and creations. She also is available at the shop and comes in the original size I painted, plus closeups, graphic and the background - no compromises in quality and size - you get what I made and I leave it up to you to resize the tube if needed. Animations allowed, color adjustments are also allowed - play with her until she fits in your creation.

did you ever wonder what cats are dreaming about when they are asleep? Me, too - and I imagined a beautiful land in vibrant colors, where moths and butterflies in unusual colors are playing in the moonlit garden. The moth as many other elements is painted by me and is original a luna moth (you know, the green ones lol) - but in Grizabella's dream all things look a little different than in reality. take a look at the preview and then go and get the kit with 41 elements and 20 papers:
